In January 2026, Progresa welcomed 36 new scholarship recipients, bringing the total number of supported students to 115—one of the largest cohorts in the program’s recent history.
At the beginning of 2026, Progresa welcomed 36 new students into its scholarship program, marking an important moment of growth for the organization. With these new scholars joining the community, Progresa now supports a total of 115 students pursuing higher education in different regions of Guatemala.
This is one of the largest student cohorts the program has had in many years, reflecting both the increasing demand for educational opportunities and the continued commitment of donors who make the scholarships possible.
The scholarship support has also expanded to better meet students’ needs during their university studies. In addition to financial assistance, Progresa continues to provide mentoring, workshops, and emotional support to accompany students throughout their academic journey.
In recent years, a significant number of Progresa students have chosen to pursue careers in nursing, a profession that plays a vital role in strengthening healthcare services across Guatemala. The growing presence of nursing students within the program reflects the strong sense of responsibility many scholars feel toward serving their communities.
Progresa is also currently working to expand opportunities for students to connect with one another through virtual workshops and shared learning spaces. These initiatives aim to strengthen the sense of community among students who live in different regions of the country but share the same commitment to education and social impact.
