Progresa celebrated the 17th edition of the Progresa English Program in January 2026, welcoming its largest group of volunteers and students for a week of immersive English learning and community.

In January 2026, Progresa celebrated the 17th edition of the Progresa English Program (PEP), a week-long immersive experience designed to strengthen students’ English skills while fostering meaningful connections between volunteers and scholars. The program took place from January 5 to January 13 and brought together the largest group of volunteers in the history of PEP.

This year, approximately 80 people participated in the program, including international volunteers, students, staff members, and members of the board of directors. Throughout the week, students participated in intensive one-on-one English sessions with volunteer teachers. Each volunteer worked closely with one student during the week, creating a supportive learning environment where students could practice conversation, improve their confidence, and strengthen their language skills.

In addition to the individual lessons, students and volunteers also participated in conversational group sessions that encouraged discussion, cultural exchange, and collaborative learning. These activities created an atmosphere that was both academically enriching and joyful for everyone involved.

The program was coordinated by Fred Dobb, whose dedication and leadership over the past years have significantly contributed to the growth and strengthening of PEP. Thanks to his efforts and the commitment of many volunteers, the program continues to expand and provide valuable learning opportunities for Progresa students.

The next edition of the Progresa English Program is already scheduled for December 7–15, 2026. This special edition will celebrate the 18th anniversary of the program and will continue building opportunities for students to practice English and connect with volunteers from around the world.
